History
Ballyrickard Limousins was established in 1984. It continues to grow and develop since then. The foundation cow was "Cattogs Thora", bred by Mr. E. Cuttle. Thora Remains in the breeding of almost all animals in the herd to this day, leaving behind her good confirmation and milky females.
The herd took a major step forward in 1997 with the purchase of a cow and calf from the Grange production sale in England. This calf turned out to be our first stockbull "Grange Navajo". This was probably the best thing to have happened to the herd, he turned out to be a very consistant breeder, producing some very good cows.
Milbrook Vic is the new stockbull. He was selected on confirmation and size with a good depth of pedigree. He is a Mas Du Clo son and the dam goes back to Talent and Oakley Politician.
In 2009 the herd gained johnes free status with the CHeCS health scheme after two clear herd tests. We continue to vaccinate for BVD and Lepto. |
